Broken Promises is an intimate short film exploring domestic abuse, marriage, and the difficult journey of finding strength when the future you believed in begins to fall apart. Created as part of Spiritual Medicine, the film combines narrative storytelling with faith led reflection taking an intensely personal experience and asking a wider question: How do we heal from the promises people fail to keep?

SOMETIMES THE MOST POWERFUL STORIES ARE THE MOST PERSONAL.
The film moves from narrative into faith led reflection. That transition is important. The drama allows us to experience the situation emotionally. The conversation afterwards creates space to examine it. These experiences can feel deeply individual while being almost universally understood. Film gives us a way to enter those experiences without judgement.
WHEN THE STORY STOPS, THE CONVERSATION BEGINS.
One of the strengths of the film is its intimacy. Much of the story unfolds within ordinary spaces. A kitchen, A bedroom, A car, places that should feel familiar and safe become the backdrop for something emotionally uncertain. Reading becomes one of the film's most important recurring visual motifs. As tension grows around him, the boy turns towards the page. The book creates a physical barrier between himself and the world. The adults may believe the conflict belongs to them. But the film quietly reminds us that children experience the atmosphere of a home even when the argument isn't directed at them.
